Dressed in the seasons finest, the Southern Living Showcase Home by Classic welcomed its first visitors November 2 as the home opened for a Christmas tour that will run through Sunday, November 18.
According to one visitor, Its like walking through the pages of a holiday edition of Southern Living Magazine.
That's exactly what exclusive Showcase Home decorator and owner of Flowers on Broadway,* Chris Kiliveros was hoping for.
Kiliveros, who chose colors and natural elements that enhance the dcor of this Tuscan-themed home, has spun magic with more than 5,000 lights, 200 yards of ribbon and 50 yards of tulle strategically placed to achieve a look of dramatic elegance.
Kiliveros, who spent months preparing for the event and more than 72 hours actually decorating the home, says that his inspiration came from the home itself. This home has beautiful, rich furnishings and colors that lend themselves well to the blues and greens that are popular this season. When I went to market, I was specifically looking for items that were unique and imaginative--items that would create the look that this home deserved.
I have worked a lot of natural elements into the dcor, he explained. The mantle piece for example contains moss, dried pods and peacock feathers. The resplendent colors and iridescent hues inspired by the peacocks exotic markings blend well with the glittery details of the hand-adorned ornaments and the sparkle of the lights. In addition to accenting the mantle, these elements are used throughout the great room to complete the look.
While a well dressed nine-foot tree at the grand entrance is the focal point of this winter wonderland, visitors marvel at the tree on the homes lanai that is specially designed to be placed against walls, in corners, or in areas where a larger tree is not feasible--a perfect choice for the many condominiums and town houses found in our coastal region. Like all of the dcor, the tree was created by Kiliveros himself.
Breezing through boxes of ornaments and yards of ribbon, Kiliveros makes decorating look easy and fun. And for him, it is. With more than 25 years experience, he is not only the exclusive designer for this areas first Southern Living Showcase Home, he is a top choice by brides, event planners, home owners and businesses who wants the look that only he can provide.
I love decorating, and I especially love decorating for Christmas, he said. This is the season when homes are transformed into unforgettable places, friends become family and lifelong memories are made. Seeing a face light up when someone walks into a room that I have decorated makes the time and effort well worth it.
I love making the season sparkle. Kiliveros said as he stepped back to admire his work at Classics Southern Living Showcase Home."
