Description
At 7:00 PM on July 16, the Museum of Coastal Carolina’s Sandbar Café welcomes guest speaker Grover Godwin. The Sandbar Café is co-sponsored by OIB Surf & Java. Sit back, relax, enjoy a cup of coffee, and listen to Grover Godwin talk about The Game of Chance: Blockade Running. Godwin will discuss the art of blockade running, the contribution of blockade runners to the Confederate cause, the role of coastal forts from Wilmington to Charleston, the role of the Union fleet, and the lives of the men who fought in the Civil War.
Grover Godwin has spent most of his life studying the Civil War and has amassed an extensive personal library and video collection. He has a B.S. in U.S. history from UNC Chapel Hill. He has been a Civil War re-enactor since 1982. He is a trained docent with the NC Museum of History.
