Description
The Museum of Coastal Carolina and Ingram Planetarium are celebrating Pi Day on Saturday, March 9, with special programs and activities. Pi Day is an unofficial holiday that celebrates the mathematical constant Pi. Pi is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. If you measure the outside edge (circumference) of a circle, it will always be a little more than three times its width (diameter). Try this with any size circle and it will always be true.
Come to Ingram Planetarium on March 9 from noon to 3:14 PM and enjoy free Pi Day activities in the Paul Dennis Science Hall. Use simple mathematical equations to explore the concept of Pi. Have “sum” fun with several Pi-related make-and-take-home projects. And, of course, enjoy some Moon Pies on Pi Day. Ingram Planetarium is located at 7625 High Market Street in Sunset Beach, NC. While at the Planetarium, consider staying for one of these entertaining shows in the Sky Theater: Astronaut (1:00), Dynamic Earth (2:00), Zula Patrol: Under the Weather (3:00), and Tales of the Maya Skies (4:00). Per-show admission for Sky Theater shows is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, $4 for ages 3-4, and free for ages 2 and under. Call the Planetarium at 910-575-0033 for more information or visit www.MuseumPlanetarium.org.
