Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers (COVID-19)
Dear South Carolina Business,
As the situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) unfolds, we are aware that both individuals and businesses can be affected. The coronavirus is being carefully monitored by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) at the state level, and of course, by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) at the federal level.
In support of the business community, we are providing the attached information from SCDHEC, focused specifically on Business Guidance. This communique is filled with helpful information that pertains to everything from preventive hygiene, to employee sick leave policies, to continuity planning.
The SC Department of Commerce and its allies are here to offer South Carolina companies support in such areas as supplier development, cashflow issues, operational challenges, or any other questions you may have about coronavirus, and business impact. Please feel free to email any questions to email@example.com, or call 803-737-8524. Additionally, April Chaffins firstname.lastname@example.org, 803-542-1990, or Chuck Bundy, email@example.com, 803-737-0440, both of the SC Department of Commerce, would be glad to assist you in any way.
There is one additional online resource that we have recently been made aware of, and that is www.MUSC.Care. If you are concerned about coronavirus, or are experiencing respiratory or flulike symptoms, you, or your employees, can visit with a medical professional who can provide a virtual screening for you. Check out the site, www.MUSC.Care.
As Governor McMaster has reiterated, we are encouraging all South Carolinians to listen out for advice from SCDHEC, but we are also encouraging companies to go about their normal business activities. We appreciate the preparations that have already made by the public and private sectors, and stand ready to continue support for the business community of South Carolina.
Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers
DHEC is closely monitoring a rapidly emerging national outbreak of a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and is investigating possible cases of 2019 Novel Coronavirus in South Carolina.
As part of our ongoing outreach efforts, we want to make sure that we continue to update you on the latest DHEC and CDC guidance.
This guidance is based on what is currently known about the transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We will update this guidance as needed and as additional information becomes available. This document is intended to be statewide guidance to help both businesses and employers inform their decision making.
In addition to checking DHEC’s website, please check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website periodically for updated interim guidance from the CDC.
No additional precautions are recommended for the public at this time, beyond the simple daily precautions that everyone should always take to stop the spread of illness, including getting the flu vaccine, washing your hands, covering your cough, and appropriately disposing tissues and other items contaminated with respiratory droplets.
As we learn more, we will continue to update our webpage at scdhec.gov/COVID19. This includes our outreach materials page.
