Bras Across The Water

The Freedom Boat Club and “Team Freedom,” proudly announce they will once again hold its signature charity event, “Bras-Across-the-Water.” The event will be held at the Harbourgate Marina, in North Myrtle Beach, adjacent to the Swing-Bridge, from Noon until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2013.

During September, “Team Freedom” will be collecting “Bras and Dollars” from the community. Corporate and Individual Sponsors are being solicited to pledge money for each bra collected. The boat club itself, is pledging to match $1.00 for each bra collected up to $1,000.00. “Team Freedom” is the Community Outreach arm of the boat club, sponsoring various Community, Social, and Charitable events throughout the year for the club’s members and the community at large.

This whimsical and fun event is designed to raise awareness of Breast Cancer, and to raise monies for the American Cancer Society in support of Breast Cancer research. The actual event consists of a carnival-type gathering on the docks in and around the Harbourgate Marina, with: -- Live radio and local TV broadcasts; -- A live band; -- A Bar-B-Que Cook-Off Contest; -- Local vendors; -- Breast cancer informational booths; -- A Chinese auction; -- Games, Raffles, and so forth. The bras which are collected are all attached to a rope in a “Chain-of-Hope.” The highlight of the event occurs when the collection of bras are literally “Strung Across the Water!”

Anyone wishing to volunteer to help our team in planning and working at the event should contact the Freedom Boat Club.

The Freedom Boat Club makes boating simple and fun! It is a Members Only Club that eliminates all the hassles of boating such as; Maintenance, Cleaning, Dock Fees, and Insurance. Club members have access to a fleet of boats anytime they want. Just show up at the dock, hop in the boat, and take off -- When one returns to the dock, the club’s staff does all the rest. The Boat is Waiting!
