The German Romantic Spirit
featuring Madalyn and Cicely Parnas, violin and cello

Inspired by Beethoven's dramatic intensity and technical innovation, German Romantic composers developed a highly personal, emotional style within the framework of traditional Classical forms. Hear Carl Maria von Weber's operatic portrayal of the supernatural, Robert Schumann's Beethoven-like rhythmic drive and symphonic grandeur, and the sophisticated, engaging manner of Johannes Brahms' writing for a pair of solo instruments and orchestra.
