SUMMARY:WIOA Nondiscrimination Provisions\, Section 188 - Part 4 of 4
DESCRIPTION:The LEAD Center\, which is funded by the US Department of Labor Office of Disability Policy (ODEP)\, is hosting a four-part webinar series titled "WIOA from a Disability Perspective."\n\nSigned into law by President Obama in July 2014\, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) can help job seekers and workers with and without disabilities succeed in finding jobs by matching employers with skilled workers who receive education\, skills training\, and career services. At a state and local level\, Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs) use a unified state planning process that will focus on cross system collaboration (Title I Adult and Youth programs and services with Wagner-Peyser Employment Services and Title I of the Rehabilitation Act programs).\n\nWIOA offers new support for job seekers with disabilities that increases responsibility of WIBs and American Job Centers to be fully accessible and offer accommodations that help job seekers with disabilities find and use skills training to work in the current job market.\n\nBecause the regulations for implementing WIOA are not expected until the Spring of 2015\, join us for this webinar series to help you understand the possibilities of WIOA from a disability perspective.\n\nSpeakers:\n\nMichael Morris\, LEAD Center - Co-Chair of the Public Policy Team and Executive Director\, National Disability Institute \n\nDavid Mank\, Director of the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at Indiana University - Newly-elected Chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities (Section 609 of Title IV of WIOA) \n\nBridget Brown\, Executive Director - National Association of Workforce Development Professionals \n\nDon Wehbey\, Labor Market Information Director National Association of State Workforce Agencies\n\n\nRegistration:\nDeadline to Register - September 23\, 2015\n\n \n\nThis is the fourth of a four-part webinar series.\n\nPlease note: This webinar will be captioned and a link to download the presentation will be sent to registrants prior to the webinar. To request other accommodations\, please contact Brittany Taylor at btaylor@ndi-inc.org within 48 hours of the webinar.\n\nRegister for this webinar by clicking or copying and pasting this link:https://leadcenter.webex.com/leadcenter/onstage/g.php?MTID=e15d6b0316dde7f22057b390fee5e2499
