The Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center formally thanked the Little River Volunteer Firefighters for supporting the community with a check presentation Monday night at their weekly training session.  These volunteers serve both the World Famous Blue Crab Festival and the Little River ShrimpFest and protect the community of Little River and surrounding areas 24/7 and 365 days a year.

The chamber is charged with reinvesting proceeds from the festivals back into the community.  “Our volunteer firefighters work relentlessly on behalf of our community and it is time we give back,” said Les Gore, member of the Board of Directors for the chamber.  “The volunteer fire department was here before Horry County established a fire station in Little River and they are still here ensuring our safety.”

Captain David Howell, Horry County Fire Rescue, is proud to serve with these volunteers stating, “We are in a unique position in Little River.  Not all fire stations are fortunate to have these resources and support from volunteers and the Little River Chamber.”

The Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center’s commitment to the Little River is to promote community improvement, tourism and commerce by proactive leadership and community involvement.
